We are all unique individuals and the way we make choices about our own lives, particularly when it comes to the most personal areas, should reflect this. That's why LVNDR Health is working to reduce social inequalities in existing healthcare services, starting with sexual health and gender identity care. Made by and for the queer community, LVNDR is here to listen to your needs and act on your behalf. Inclusive sexual health should be a reality, not just a dream.
The concept for LVNDR emerged from the personal experiences of varying degrees of discrimination when seeking sexual health services as an LGBTQ+ individual. CEO and co-founder Christopher El Badaoui described how not only had they and their team been subject to this, but that they also heard many accounts of community members sharing their own stories of discrimination.
With 42 million queer and trans people in the UK and Europe alone, it is imperative to find a way of addressing the lack of appropriate healthcare. The dangers are too severe for such an extensive population to be denied access or knowledge about their own wellbeing. The LVNDR team is working to end the fragmented healthcare system currently available, by providing access and training for clinicians in various fields including testing services.
Thankfully, many organisations are working hard to improve access and offer compassion for LGBTQ+ people. This includes providing appropriate healthcare services that meet their needs in a multitude of ways to live happier, healthier lives which are, crucially, free from discrimination or fear.

“Particularly in the UK, healthcare for the queer and trans community is disjointed. Resources are scattered, the subject is highly stigmatised, and the current communication that is set in place is quite ineffective.”

LVNDR strives to create equal access across communities with their unique approach: they offer up-to-date information on everything related to sexual health, so that everyone can make choices about keeping their own bodies healthy.
The LGBTQ+ community has long been denied access to appropriate healthcare. This is something that LVNDR hopes to change with their inclusive services and products, which aim to reduce the amount of discrimination this community faces when seeking medical assistance related to issues such as sexual health.
As a digital platform providing on-demand appointments via text and video conference, ease of access is a key component in LVNDR’s offering. They also provide ways to collaborate with clinics or local authorities to modernise healthcare systems, while reducing costs by adding value. An estimated 80% of trans respondents to LVNDR’s research reported wait times of between three to five years just to access gender identity clinics.
By addressing the current inequality in sexual healthcare within the queer and trans community, LVNDR seeks to improve both the physical and mental health of patients. Discrimination regarding sexual healthcare has been reported by 23% of people within the LGBTQ+ community.
With a vast number of LGBTQ+ individuals still facing huge difficulties with mental health, removing the barriers to having basic needs met is an essential step toward improving both their physical and emotional wellbeing. By modernising healthcare services with tailored sexual health plans which support LGBTQ+ people, LVNDR is bringing about positive change for this community by addressing what they need most: access.
While LVNDR exists to change the face of queer care, they specifiy this is not the same as seeking to disrupt it. Designed to fit seamlessly into the existing sexual health landscape, allowing everyone to receive the same level of care, LVNDR simply wants to achieve the same rights to sufficient healthcare for LGBTQ+ people as anyone else. And making it personal is a crucial element of this.

The LGBTQ+ community still faces many additional health challenges that others simply do not, but LVNDR has high hopes of changing that. They're making strides towards addressing the inequalities primarily through three areas; gender identity struggles, sexual health, and reproductive health and familly planning. By providing information and resources, supporting their community directly and offering vital access to expertise, LVNDR is revolutionising healthcare for LGBTQ+ individuals so that they can look forward to a brighter future.
